Headboards look great in any bedroom. They seem to complete the design aesthetic. One doesn’t have to spend a lot of money to buy a fancy headboard. Remember its all about your own personality and your design style. Keeping that in mind the word which comes up is creative. So here are some easy ideas to spruce up your haven and bring out your style.

1. Use a large framed picture as the headboard that is as large or large than the bed.

2. Shutters make excellent choices for headboards. Paint them the color of your choice and you are all set

3. Tufted Head boards bring a traditional look to the bedroom

4. Padded fabric board. Add style and zip to a room with the choice of fabric padded on a headboard

5. Paint a head board onto the wall. Create the illusion without it actually being there

6. Take a large picture and divided it into several parts and frame each one behing the bed or take different colors and pad it into the frame. Create an abstract focal point

7. A eye catching or unique peice of wall paper can make the bed the focal point

The elements of design are the basic building blocks for any work of art including your interior.

THE ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

LINE
In interior design it is the way the eye meets two objects

SHAPE
Shape includes the area different things occupy as well as the space around it called negative space

DIRECTION
All lines have direction – Horizontal, Vertical or Oblique. Horizontal. Direction is the way the eye moves and the movement it creates in a room

SIZE
Size is simply the relationship of the area occupied by one shape to that of another.

TEXTURE
Texture is the surface quality of a shape – rough, smooth, soft hard glossy etc. Texture can be physical (tactile) or visual. Mix up your fabrics to bring in the texture element.
